Afghan Film Star Found Dead After Kidnapping

By RFE/RL's Radio Free Afghanistan

December 18, 2012

JALALABAD, Afghanistan -- Officials in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar Province say actor and film director Zahir Armani has been found dead after being kidnapped earlier this week.

Behsud district head Nematullah, who uses one name, told RFE/RL that Armani's body was discovered on December 18 in a bag.

He said the actor was apparently stabbed with a knife.

Armani is a well-known celebrity in Afghanistan and has starred in more than 20 movies.
